New and significant player on the automotive and industrial parts scene, NAPA Autoparts, is now the name behind New Zealand's leading drag racing facility, the Meremere Dragway south of Auckland.

The sport of Drag Racing has been saddened by the death of a competitor at Meremere Dragway on Saturday 2nd February. The Meremere Dragway Board of Directors regrettably confirm that motorcycle competitor Laurie Webster received fatal injuries during an accident at Competition Meeting 3.

Marsh runs New Zealand's first 4second pass

Anthony Marsh made New Zealand motorsports history when he drove his Mount Shop Marsh Motorsport Top Fuel Dragster to a first ever 4second pass at Meremere Dragway. Together with Reece Fish in the Fish Family Racing Uyehara Top Fuel dragster, the pair also posted the quickest and fastest side by side pass on New Zealand soil.

Panmure’s Chris Browning pushed his street-legal 1994 Mitsubishi Evo to a blistering 10.879 seconds elapsed time during the second round of the Night Speed Drag Wars series at Meremere Dragway. Chris came to the meeting fully prepared with the car not only WOF and REGO’d but fully tech inspected and carrying a drag racing license to allow him to run a sub-11. It was great to see his efforts and preparation pay off.

Queen of Speed smashes women's Drag Racing Record

TAURANGA, NEW ZEALAND – Karen Hay rewrote history on Sunday 6th April as she became New Zealand’s quickest and fastest female in her purpose built 1927 Ford Model T roadster powered by a twin turbocharged 482 cubic inch big block Chev engine. The record was previously held by Faye Grant from 1990 with a longer wheelbase rear engine dragster running a 6.629 second pass over the quarter mile at 205.52 miles per hour.
